BBC Radio Lincolnshire presenter announces departure and says its a ‘real shame’

A BBC Radio Lincolnshire presenter has announced he will be leaving and deemed it a ‘real shame’ that he was unable to put his name forward to continue his work. George Smith, originally from Scunthorpe, has been a presenter on BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Friday evening show since 2018 and worked for BBC Local Radio for seven years.

Freelance presenter George announced the news in a Tweet on Wednesday, May 24, and said that freelance presenters “didn’t get an opportunity” to put forward their names to keep their current roles. He said that his Friday and Saturday evening show from 6pm until 10pm will instead be filled with staff presenters.

George said: “My final BBC Radio Lincolnshire Friday show & BBC Introducing shows will be in the next couple of months. By September, I’ll be done – and all of my current shows will be regionalised and come from other stations.

Poll – Do you…
