The stakes are high following Day 3 of the 39th Annual Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament

While many boats laid low for Day 2 of the 39th Annual Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament, that was certainly not the case for Day 3.

80 boats finished out the day while 6 laid to the dock for a cumulative catch of 84 billfish: 19 blue marlin, 23 white marlin, and 42 sailfish. 40 of those billfish were caught and released: 10 blue marlin, 22 white marlin, and 8 sailfish.

The prize purse now stands at $1,047,150, as of Thursday.

Jay Jones fishing aboard the Sniper kicked things off at 8:50 a.m. by catching and releasing the first fish of the day: a blue marlin.
