HD Radio May Have A Rival, If FCC Allows DRM To Test Its Digital System In U.S. | Story

While some parts of the world have embraced Eureka-147’s digital radio technology, in the U.S. and two dozen other countries the In-Band On-Channel or “IBOC” system has been the pick. But so far the only IBOC system approved is the one that is licensed by Xperi. Yet three other digital radio systems have also been developed. And now the manufacturer of one of those rival systems is asking the Federal Communications Commission to allow a real-world test on the AM dial.
