White House, 10 Downing Street also bugged for decades

LAHORE: What to talk of the recent purported leakage of audio tapes of Pakistani heads of the government, even the White House in Washington DC and the 10-Downing Street in London, the official residences and workplaces of American president and British prime minister respectively, have been bugged for many decades, a research shows.

While some of these powerful men at helm were victims of bugging, there have been instances when they themselves were involved in recording certain conversations discreetly. On April 18, 2010, an esteemed British newspaper “The Guardian” had published claims of a Cambridge University historian, whereby, he had revealed that the 10-Downing Street was bugged by the country’s spy agency, the MI5.
