Captain who lost $3.5M prize after 619lb marlin disqualified for being mutilated by sharks hits back

  • Yet organizers of the North Carolina tournament ruled that their fish was ineligible because it had been apparently bitten by a shark
  • McCoy and the crew have launched an appeal and hired lawyers: they claim far more ‘mutilated’ fish have won in previous years, and the bite was tiny 



The captain of a fishing boat which was denied the $3.5 million prize for reeling in the biggest fish at a North Carolina tournament has insisted the organizers were wrong to disqualify them, and vowed to fight for the prize.
