KUNR celebrates 50 years of Nevada public radio

RENO, Nev. — It was just a small news story in a Reno newspaper in October 1963. “The University of Nevada took on a new ‘voice’ Monday. It’s broadcasting with a power of 10 watts from the Reno campus.” Yes, 10 watts. The new radio station was KUNR, at 88.1 on FM dials.
