Zvi Schalit, the grandfather of Gilad Schalit, an IDF soldier held captive by Hamas for more than five years, has passed away, according to the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation. Zvi’s son, Sergeant Yoel Schalit, fell on the second day of the Yom Kippur War in a battle in the Golan Heights.
