Video intern Grace Rousell recently tagged along with a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation crew working hard to complete the new Cascade Mountain Trail in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. The new trail will be approximately 5.5 miles long. It will branch off the Mt. Van Hoevenberg East Trail about one mile from the trailhead at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Sports Complex.
In a statement from the NYS DEC the new trail was deemed necessary “to address safety along Route 73, human waste and litter at the trailhead, the need for greater hiker education, and to improve and preserve the hiker experience on Cascade now and for future generations.”
