College rowing team hits kayaking fisherman in Rome

ROME — A fisherman was injured off the Muck Road boat launch in south Rome Friday evening when his kayak was struck by the Hamilton College Rowing team, according to the Rome Fire Department.

Fire officials said the crew team was practicing along the Barge Canal at about 7 p.m. Friday when their boat hit the kayaker. Officials said the kayaker suffered back pain and declined medical treatment. 

The Rome Police Department also responded to investigate.
