Break your Wordle streak, says New York Times union

Steer clear of the New York Times crossword on Thursday, the New York Times guild asks readers, as unionized employees stage a single-day strike.

More than 1,100 New York Times employees walked off the job on Thursday after the company and the union representing most of the newsroom failed to agree on issues including wages and remote work policies. Members of The NewsGuild of New York said they are fed up with bargaining that has dragged on since their last contract expired in March 2021.

In a tweet, the union asked readers to boycott the company’s content and stay away from New York Times coverage, games and recipes.

“Stand with us on the digital picket line,” the union said.

“Read local news. Listen to public radio. Pull out a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak.”
