Saudi Arabia has blocked a streaming service owned by Qatar-based sports broadcaster BeIN Sports since the start of the 2022 Fifa World Cup on 20th November.
BeIN is Fifa’s official broadcast partner in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Ahead of the tournament, the broadcaster detailed plans to show 22 World Cup fixtures on its free-to-air (FTA) channel, with the remaining fixtures airing on the BeIN Sports Max pay-TV channels, as well as being made available on its TOD.tv streaming service.
However, as first reported by the New York Times, viewers in Saudi Arabia are unable to access TOD.tv, with the country’s media ministry seemingly blocking access to the over-the-top (OTT) platform….
