Mike Shannon represented the soundtrack of summer for generations of Cardinals fans

After spending the 1971 season in the Cardinals’ promotions department, Shannon joined Jack Buck as part of the radio broadcast team in 1972. He remained there for 50 seasons, eventually becoming the team’s lead radio voice when Buck passed away in 2002. He broadcast six World Series (1982, 1985, 1987, 2006, 2011 and 2013) and was on the call for the final out as the Cardinals clinched championships in ’06 and ’11.
