AUGUSTA, GA. — If Augusta National Golf Club is famous for anything, beyond being home of the Masters tournament and the green jacket, it’s the strict rules.
There are no cellphones. (And given how violators face the threat of a lifetime ban from coveted ticket-buying privileges, nobody seems to bother even trying to smuggle one in).
There is no running. (Which makes for some hilarious speedwalking displays when the masses jockey for prime greenside real estate on which to set up their lawn chairs every morning).
And there is absolutely no asking to become a member. (This is an unwritten rule, sure, but trust us: They’ll invite you when they’re good and ready).
