International Films: Media & entertainment industry growing at 20% annually: Anurag Thakur | India News

NEW DELHI: India’s media and entertainment industry is the fifth largest market globally and is growing at the rate of 20% annually, Union information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur has said.
Speaking ahead of the launch of this year’s edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Anurag Thakur said Indian films are now reaching the farthest corners of the world.He also said the Indian market is attracting increased interest from international films, a fact borne out by the three-fold spike in number ofinternational films received in the international section of IFFI this year.
Underscoring the efforts the government has taken to facilitate the film industry in its work, the Union minister also said the festival has instituted a new section – the OTT awards – acknowledging a section of content production that has grown at a robust 28%, annually. The award,…
