Anil Antony quits party posts, flags ‘intolerance’ within Congress | Thiruvananthapuram News

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader A K Antony’s son Anil Antony on Wednesday resigned from all his posts in the Congress party, citing “intolerant calls” and “abuses” over his tweet against the controversial BBC documentary — India: The Modi Question — on 2002 Gujarat riots.
Anil said he received a disappointing response from party leaders and members on his tweet. He alleged a culture of sycophancy and intolerance in the party. “It pained me a lot. I have decided that there is no point in continuing like this,” he said.
Party leaders from the state had taken exception to the tweet, saying he cannot go against the party policy.
Senior party leader Jairam Ramesh, meanwhile, took a swipe at Anil, without taking names, by drawing a comparison between him and former CM Oommen Chandy’s son in a tweet.
