Vivendi Universal yesterday agreed to buy TPS, a satellite pay-TV platform. It will combine it with Canal Plus, its satellite TV subsidiary. The deal is designed to strengthen Canal Plus as it prepares to fight new competition from both free digital TV and telecommunications companies distributing content over broadband.
