Prime Minister suspended by Constitutional Court as it takes up term limit case – Thai Examiner

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan now assumes responsibility for the role of Prime Minister while General Prayut remains as Defence Minister as the cabinet stays in place with the government functioning normally. General Prawit’s elevation to the role of caretaker Prime Minister has been confirmed by the government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha has been ordered to stand down from his duties by the Constitutional Court as it took up a case questioning the legitimacy of his tenure in office under Section 158 of the Thai constitution which suggested that it expired at midnight on the 23rd August 2022.
