Could LG’s 163-Inch MicroLED HDTV Eventually Dethrone OLEDs?

LG Electronics has released the colossal 163-inch 4K LG MAGNIT—and it just might make you want to put your other OLED or QLED HDTVs in the crawl space.

This monster from the Korean tech giant boasts a MicroLED display, which offers self-emissive pixel advantages of OLEDs without the traditional materials. This means that the set’s overall brightness gets a noticeable boost and that it does a valiant job of warding off those pesky annoyances of image retention and burn-in.

Already launched in key markets in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the MAGNIT promises to “deliver groundbreaking picture quality and durability with LG’s proprietary Black Coating display technology as well as streamlined installation with its clever block-assembly design,” according to a press release.
