Lawmen: Bass Reeves is the latest work added to the Taylor Sheridan collection.

In the expanded Yellowstone universe, executive producer Sheridan explores the American West in a new and exciting way through the character of the most unlikely lawman, Bass Reeves.

David Oyelowo plays the Black sheriff who upheld the law in the 1880s and ’90s during a period where Black rights were non-existent, enslavement was the norm and Indigenous Americans were degraded by whites.

The limited series sees the character of Bass endure horrific circumstance after horrific circumstance. Some events are so unimaginable they would seem to be fiction, however could there be truth in the whispers that Lawmen: Bass Reeves was based on a true story?
