ARD adds radio portal to smart TVs via HbbTV

ARD Audiothek, the radio portal from German public broadcaster ARD, is now available on smart TVs.

The free service comprises over 60 public radio stations as live-streams as well as podcasts and audio programmes from the areas of radio drama, crime, comedy, documentary and knowledge. The radio stations are offered as visual radio with additional content.

ARD Audiothek can be accessed through the HbbTV start bar via the red button on the remote control when watching Das Erste, ARD’s regional channels, ARD alpha, ONE and tagesschau24.

The HbbTV version of the Audiothek was created in a joint project by ARD Online, the ARD Play Out Centre and the Technical Innovation Management of ARD affiliate Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) in conjunction with the ARD Competence Centre HbbTV/Platforms under the direction of rbb’s Distribution Department.
