Police were called to a bridge on Liverpool Road in the early hours

A woman has been seriously injured after falling from a bridge in Warrington this morning.

Police were called to Liverpool Road/Sankey Way at around 2:40am to reports of concerns for the welfare of a 21 year old woman,

Cheshire Police say despite their best efforts the woman fell from the bridge, suffering serious leg injuries.

She has been taken to Warrington Hospital.

Officers who were at the scene will be offered support and the force has reported itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
