Summerfest adds Mötley Crüe to amphitheater lineup

After a couple doses of country in its first two American Family Insurance Amphitheater announcements, Summerfest added a dash of rock — and nostalgia — Monday morning by revealing Mötley Crüe as its third big-stage headliner.

Most of the classic Crüe lineup will be on hand for the June 21 show. Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee have appeared together pretty consistently since 2004, although longtime guitarist Mick Mars retired from touring last year and was replaced by John 5.

The L.A. band has been at it for more than four decades and in that time has topped 100 million in album sales, with their first five efforts all going platinum. Dr. Feelgood was the biggest of the bunch and occupied the top spot on Billboard’s album chart before being certified six times platinum.
