A Scots oil worker has died and another left injured following an incident on an oilrig platform off the shore of Qatar.

A Scots oil worker has died and another left injured following an incident on an oilrig platform off the shore of Qatar. The incident is understood to have taken place on the facility in the country’s Al Shaheen oil field.

A third Scot is also believed to have been taken into custody by Qatari police to assist them with their investigation.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died and a man who has been injured in Qatar and are in contact with the local authorities.”
