Hochul says awarding company more than $600 million for test kits was necessary expenditure

Governor Kathy Hochul’s political opponents are raising questions about some donations that a small, family-owned company made to her campaign. During the time when the donations were made, the company was paid over $600 million to deliver COVID-19 tests to New York state. But the governor says there was no connection between the campaign donations and the COVID test payments.

The owners of Digital Gadgets, a New Jersey-based company that sells electronic devices, along with members of the Tebele family, contributed $300,000 in campaign donations to Governor Hochul over the past several months, as reported in the Albany Times Union.
