T-Mobile announces $200+ million in network upgrades for West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Cell service with fast, reliable internet is something we count on more and more every day. However, in areas of West Virginia, that is sometimes hard to come by.

On Friday, cell service provider T-Mobile joined Gov. Jim Justice to announce its completion of $200 million in investment in West Virginia.

“So that West Virginia can experience the best network, the largest 5G network in the world,” said Edwige Robinson, senior vice president for field engineering at T-Mobile.

The $200 million built 377 new towers with upgrades to 121 existing towers. That investment takes what was a largely 4G network in 2021, and supercharges it in 2023 with much broader 5G and ultra capacity 5G.

The company says that has a real impact on households and business.
