Pune: Two men posing as delivery agents of an e-commerce firm stole a cellphone worth Rs7,000 from a 20-year-old college student after offering him a new one at a cheaper rate in Bharatinagar in Kothrud around 2.30pm on Tuesday.
In his complaint lodged later that night with the Kothrud police, the student stated that he was walking to his house from his college when two men on a motorcycle approached him.“The complainant said the two were wearing T-shirts of an e-commerce firm and claimed that they were its delivery agents,” assistant inspector Ravindra Alekar of the Kothrud police said.
“The duo offered him a new phone at a cheaper rate in exchange for his phone. The student told them that he was not interested in buying a phone. The duo told the student to take their contact number in case he needed a new phone at a cheaper rate in the future,” Alekar said.
