Showdown talks to break Assembly deadlock scheduled for High Noon

Talks between Labour and Plaid Cymru aimed at breaking the deadlock over the election of a First Minister will begin at noon today in Cardiff. After a stand-off between the two parties lasting more than 24 hours, Labour approached Plaid yesterday afternoon to set up talks that may defuse the crisis.
