RTA: Rta Faces Delays In Generating Smart Cards With ‘tg’ Prefix | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Regional Transport Authority (RTA) is facing delays in updating smart cards despite the state govt’s shift to ‘TG’ registration code. The transition from ‘TS’ to ‘TG’ code for vehicle registration has led to a backlog of thousands of pending applications as RTA is yet to incorporate the new code in the printing of smart cards.
It has been almost 10 days since RTA started implementing the new high-security registration plates with ‘TG’ code.However, the printing of smart cards with the ‘TG’ prefix is taking longer than expected, causing delays in processing applications. Each RTA office in the city typically prints around 500 smart cards.
The smart cards, issued by RTA, are essential for various transactions, including new vehicle registration, driving licence applications, renewal of licences, and ownership transfers. Following the shift to ‘TG’,…
