When ferocious bushfires enveloped eastern Australia in 2019-20, Jeffe and Carrie Aronson’s high-country property was surrounded by flames.
It was only a change in wind direction that spared his Anglers Rest home, instead engulfing his neighbour’s property, but a vital phone call to warn his friend made all the difference.
“The fires were literally at our doorstep right across the road. They were coming at us in 2019-20,” Mr Aronson said.
