Brunei’s 5G network to enter trial stage

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — Brunei will conduct a fifth generation (5G) mobile network trial for cellphone subscribers for up to eight weeks.

According to a statement from the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) on Saturday, AITI, working with Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN), the sultanate’s wholesale telecommunication service provider to both national and international clients, will conduct the 5G Mobile Network trial in collaboration with all three telecommunications service providers.

The trial is conducted before the official introduction of 5G services scheduled to launch in the sultanate in the coming months, utilizing new and existing radiofrequency spectrum to provide high-capacity bandwidth in all high internet traffic areas.
