Marion-based Christian broadcasting company buys Ashland TV station

MARION — A Marion-based Christian broadcasting company has added another television station to its stable.

The Central Ohio Association of Christian Broadcasters (COACB), located at 1282 N. Main St. in Marion, recently purchased a fifth television station. According to David Aiken, president of COACB, WQIZ (W33BW) is located in Ashland and its acquisition will give COACB access to a potential audience of more than 2 million people across north-central Ohio.

“Everything about this is a miracle,” said Aiken, who along with his wife, Carolyn, founded a local television ministry that would become COACB more than 40 years ago. “Back when we got the license to build TV39 in Marion, the people we got it from said it was absolutely impossible for a TV station to make it here in Marion. But we are still here because of the Lord.”
