The Chosen, the hit TV show about the life of Jesus, has many ties to North Texas.
The streaming series, which stems from a short Christmas film that creator Dallas Jenkins made for his church, has become one of the biggest crowdfunded media projects ever produced. As of 2021, it had raised more than $40 million for the production of its first three seasons. It has garnered over 600 million episode views, according to press materials, and was called a “hit with a Christian fan base that is breaking into the mainstream” by The New York Times.
Its fourth season will be screened in stages in theaters starting Feb. 1. Episodes 1-3 will be released on Feb. 1, episodes 4-6 on Feb. 15 and episodes 7-8 on Feb. 29. Many Dallas-area theaters, including AMC NorthPark, Angelika Dallas and Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX, will screen the episodes.
The season will be released on the show’s free…
