Fayetteville pastor disheartened by hateful messages spraypainted on church

For the second time in a week, someone has painted disturbing graffiti on a Fayetteville church wall.

The Greater Unity Tabernacle Christian Church on Gillespie Street is the target.

Pastor Cordelia Challenger could believe her eyes when she arrived at her church on Gillespie Street this morning.

“They’re getting bolder because they’re attacking the church and they’re attacking closer to downtown,” Challenger said.

For the second time in a week, someone has spray painted obscenities on her building.

There are swastikas, stars in circles and drawings too graphic to show on TV. But the thing that upset the pastor most is what was spraypainted about kids.

“You don’t bring up negative things concerning little kids. and that particular graffiti,” she said. “That particular hate, spoke about doing little things to little children. You can’t go much lower than that.”
