“2023: The one where one of our ‘Friends’ left us.”
Perhaps no celebrity death hit harder or closer to home than Matthew Perry. The actor who played Chandler on the hit sit-com “Friends,” unexpectedly died of the acute effects of ketamine in October after an apparent drowning at his home.
Singer/songwriter Tina Turner, 83, who died in May at her Switzerland home, along with Perry, were the most searched deaths of the year on Google.
The world mourned the deaths of several influential people in 2023 from actors and musicians in entertainment to politicians in world government to a Russian mercenary.
As we inch closer to the ball dropping on New Year’s Eve in New York’s Time Square to usher in 2024, we say goodbye to many of those who left their marks on us, for better and for worse.
