One secondhand source is a set of fragmentary notes that a teenage girl, Betty Klenck, took from what she believed were Earhart's final radio calls for help.

These words form the basis of Betty's Notebook a new work for chorus and recorded sounds by Texas-born, New York-resident composer Nicholas Reeves . It had its world premiere in three performances over the weekend by the Verdigris Ensemble, a two-year-old professional chamber choir led by Sam Brukhman.
