Excluding China, 2015 executions worldwide rose 50% in a year to highest since 1989, Amnesty says

Recorded executions surged by more than 50 percent last year to the highest level in a quarter of a century, a human rights group said Wednesday. Amnesty International listed the three executions that Japan carried out in 2015 as among 1,634 worldwide. The total does not include China, where the figures are considered a state secret.
