Pirate radio celebration to be funded by final Audio Content Fund round – RadioToday

The Audio Content Fund has awarded £385k to 20 projects in the final round of funding for radio programmes.

One of the projects is a celebration of pirate radio to mark 55 years since the Marine Offences Act was introduced in 1967.

Absolute Radio Pirates will be created by Unusual Productions for Absolute Radio 60s.

The bids come with commitments of broadcast on at least 70 different radio stations, with broadcast partners including Absolute Radio, Times Radio, JazzFM, Fun Kids, BFBS, talkSPORT, Magic and a range of community radio stations across the country.

In the last three years, the fund has distributed £3.35m to 91 different independent production companies, to produce 165 projects, which have been heard on at least 350 radio stations.
