Attempted kidnapping of the Minister of Justice of Belgium. Four suspects were arrested

Four suspects were arrested last weekend in the Netherlands, as part of the investigation into the attempted kidnapping of the Belgian Minister of Justice, Vincent Van Quickenborne, 49 years old. The official blamed the plan on the “drug mafia”, notes the France Presse agency, taken over by Agerpres.

The minister, who is also the mayor of the town of Kortrijk, addressed the residents of this town in West Flanders who were participating in a municipal ball on Saturday evening, in a video message broadcast on Sunday by public radio and television RTBF.

He said he received a call Thursday from federal prosecutor Frédéric Van Leeuw. “He warned me about a kidnapping project targeting me,” the minister said in this video message, adding that he did not want to cancel the festivities to “not give credit to the drug mafia.”
