To the Editor: As we approach the fifth anniversary of the deadly June 2012 Ohio derecho, thanks to Dennis Powell (The Athens NEWS, May 22) for his insightful reminder of the many modern-day vulnerabilities of our fragile telecommunications and electricity networks, especially in rural areas.
