LTV’s De Facto lists accused and convicted election candidates / Article

During the 13th Saeima term, six MPs have been accused of various wrongdoings.

Juris Jurašs (Conservatives), former employee of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) was charged with leaking state secrets in February 2019. He was acquitted in two instances but the prosecution appealed the judgment. The Supreme Court Senate verdict is expected at the end of September. Jurašs is a candidate in the 14th Saeima elections.

Artuss Kaimiņš and Atis Zakastitovs (former KPV LV) were both detained in 2018 on suspicion of illegal party financing. Two separate cases were initiated: Zakastitovs was accused of fraud and acquitted in the first instance. The case has been appealed. Kaimiņš’ case on document fraud is still active. Zakastitovs is on the New Unity candidate list for the 14th Saeima, whereas Kaimiņš will not run for election.
