HOT BASKETBALL ACTION ROARS ON IN COLD JANUARY

Weekend basketball action in the Heritage Conference included a 46-40 Saturday win by Penns Manor’s girls over rival Marion Center.  Sophomore Alyssa Altemus led the Comets with 16 points.  Allie Mumau had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Deja Gillo added 10 points. Lydia Miller led the Stingers with 13 points and Kaelee Elkin added 11.

There’s a basketball doubleheader happening tonight between the Homer-Center teams and Berlin Brothersvalley, at Berlin.  The girls game has a unique twist.  Besides featuring the 12-3 Mountaineers against the 11-4 Wildcats, the game offers the chance for a player from each team to reach 1,000 career points.  Homer-Center’s Molly Kosmack needs 11 points to reach the milestone while Berlin’s Gracyn Sechler needs 8.

The boys game tips off at 6 o’clock, with the girls to follow.
