Britain is on the cusp of a radio revolution. Earlier last year, new figures showed that digital radio had overtaken FM and AM for the first time, according to radio research body, Rajar.
Just over half (50.9 per cent) of the population listened to radio digitally in the first quarter of 2018 – up from 47.2 per cent in the same period last year.
The figure was a milestone, as it represented one of three benchmarks set by the UK government to kickstart the digital switchover – the others being national digital radio coverage to match FM coverage and local digital radio reaching 90 per cent of the population.
