Caquist leader François Legault wants to extend 5G technology throughout Quebec before the end of the decade.
The leader of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ), François Legault, promises to create the Quebec Infrastructure and Data Fund (ID Quebec), endowed with 3 billion dollars, to complete the cellular coverage of the Quebec territory by 2026.
At a press conference in the municipality of La Pêche, in Outaouais, he also committed to converting the majority of the cellular network to 5G technology by 2030 and to extend optical fiber throughout Quebec.
The CAQ says it is responding to requests from citizens and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and wants to attract more private investment.
