WSGW newsman Dave Maurer resigns after 43 years at mid-Michigan station

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI — Longtime WSGW-790 AM radio journalist Dave Maurer during a Friday, Oct. 7, broadcast announced he would step away from the company where he first began working 43 years ago.

Mauer and WSGW station administrators did not immediately return messages from The Saginaw News/MLive Friday seeking comment about the reason for Maurer’s resignation or his plans, although staff there confirmed Maurer was stepping away from his job as operations manager.

In a Friday Facebook post on his personal page, though, Maurer wrote he was not retiring.

“I resigned to move on to other opportunities,” Maurer wrote.

A Facebook post published on the WSGW page included a transcript from Maurer’s final broadcast and written comments attributed to Charlie Rood, a producer and anchor at the radio station.
