SEVEN HILLS, Ohio — Forty years have passed since The Cleveland Press ended publication.
John Sabol vividly remembers June 17, 1982. Sabol, who started at the newspaper in 1965 as a copy aide, worked his way up to dayside news editor.
Today, the Seven Hills resident has become a lobbyist of sorts in the hope to digitize The Cleveland Press for future generations to view.
“Working with the Cleveland Memory Project off and on for a number of years on a couple of research projects, it became obvious to me that The Plain Dealer is searchable 1845 to 1991 online through the Cleveland Public Library and Cuyahoga County Public Library,” said Sabol, 76 (who is also this reporter’s step-uncle).
