On this Day in 2008 – Dual England captaincy role for Kevin Pietersen

On August 4 2008 Kevin Pietersen was named as England’s Test and one-day International captain. The explosive middle-order batsman replaced Michael Vaughan following his resignation after a home series against South Africa was lost and also took the reins from Paul Collingwood in the limited overs format.
