U.S. ignoring international caribou agreement, say Indigenous gov’ts of Arctic refuge plan

Canadian and Indigenous governments say the U.S. Bureau of Land Management needs to consult more broadly on its plans to sell oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In 2017, U.S. Congress passed the U.S. Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which opened 1.5-million acres of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to future lease sales.
