Drivers formed long queues outside petrol stations in Venezuela yesterday after the government announced that the country’s heavily subsidised fuel prices would rise. President Maduro said that for the next two years pump prices would return to international levels, to bring about “palpable prosperity” to an economy wrecked by hyperinflation.
