Journalists get life in prison for ‘subliminal coup messages’

Six journalists have been sentenced to life in prison in Turkey for “violating the constitutional order”. The six — who include veteran opposition editors and reporters — are the first journalists to be convicted of involvement in the attempted coup of July 2016, in what has been described as “a chilling precedent” by Amnesty International.
