The Belgian media receive many forms of funding. Each year, EUR 300 million is channelled into state-owned public broadcasting, while EUR 175 million of taxpayers’ money goes to print media distribution for example. It has recently emerged that a number of Dutch journalists and publications have been receiving funding from the Commission itself.
